Product information "Kelardasht"
Kelardasht rugs come from the Kelardasht plain. The landscape in Gilan Province is located west of the Elburs Mountains at the foot of the Kelar Massif, northwest of Tehran. All Kelardasht rugs have a dark coloration typical of their origin, predominantly reddish-brown or dark blue. The geometric pattern betrays a strong influence of the nearby Caucasus. It is interesting to note how the rugs are knotted here. Larger rugs are often knotted on wooden looms that lean against the wall of the house. The weavers then sit in front of the loom and slowly work their way up.
