The Dual Role: Instagram Queen of Interior Design and Passionate Teacher

V: You're not just an "Instagram Queen" of interior design but also a teacher in real life.
S: Exactly.
V: And, if I may say, the coolest one I've ever met. I wish you had been around 20 years ago, teaching at Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Hamburg. But tell me, what's it like being a teacher these days?
S: I am a teacher with heart and soul. I think the teaching profession sometimes gets a bad rap in the public eye. The education sector has various problems, let's not downplay that, but the job itself is fabulous. Those who like variety, pace, focus, and dealing with different people are in the right place. And I belong to that category. I love it.
V: It really shows. You have incredible energy, and I think it's fair to mention that you're in the 12th week of pregnancy.
S: Exactly. We have something in common.

Teacher of Style: Sabrina's Interior Consulting

Her unique style, characterized by colors, contrasts, and tactile materials, reflects her personality – Sabrina creates spaces with their own stories.
V: I find it incredible that you have so much energy, and you approach everything with such enthusiasm. I think it's evident in your home too. You're not just a teacher; you've also dedicated yourself to interior design – even professionally. You offer that as a service. How did that come about?
S: It developed over the last few years. I have a huge passion due to my subjects. I teach a wild combination of subjects, I would say. These include politics, German, psychology, but also visual arts. Visual arts and interior design have become a bit of my passion. When I started decorating our former Schulterblatt apartment about 7/8 years ago, my great love for interior design began, and over time, my own style evolved. With the occasional detour and excursions into other styles, but by now, I think I can say I've found my style.
V: You have a beautiful style. I would love to invite you to my place; you can let your style run wild there. One thing that stands out is that you focus on color, but more muted tones that still stand out in contrast. For example, you have this beautiful coral-red cabinet in your dining room, and then you pick it up again with velvet chairs – totally chic. Where does this type of interior style come from? How did it develop for you, or, to put it differently, what advice would you give to customers who are just starting to furnish their homes?
S: Interior style is a very personal thing. My DNA is kind of embedded everywhere here. In the context of what was there before. We are in a Gründerzeit house – before, I lived in an Art Nouveau apartment, and I always made sure that the elements didn't get lost, that they rather got a stage. Overall, I would say I'm eclectic. I think you can see that. Despite clear structure, I mix a lot. Combining geometric and organic forms alone excites me. I think I've taken that a bit from visual arts, but also the contrasts. Light and shadow – a theme for me in art but also in interior design. Those who follow me a bit know that on "Schulterblatt," there was an all-black room, and here, there was also a black dining room, which is now green. I believe color and beautiful tactile materials are at the top of my to-do list when decorating.

Surprising Highlight: The Sabideh in the Home Office

A synthesis of heirlooms, Gründerzeit, and modern taste

Vida explores Sabrina's home, owned for just 1 ½ years. It has emerged from a fascinating mix of family heirlooms, modern taste, and creative influences. Sabrina not only shares her personal highlights but also reveals how to reach her for her interior service.
V: What was the biggest surprise or your favorite room or piece in this house when you decorated it? You haven't been living here for long, right? It's been 1 ½ years.
S: We brought a lot with us. Furnishing or finding a style is always a process. We brought many heirlooms that we reinterpreted, had them repainted, such as the large black sideboard from Nils' grandmother, who would hopefully be happy today that it shines in matte black. I believe in combination with the circumstances – Gründerzeit, heirlooms, and then modern taste and small influences – all of this has come together.
V: And the service you provide, where do you offer it? Where can people contact you if they don't have your number like I do? What's the best way to do that?
S: Of course, the quickest way is through Instagram; you can always reach me there. But I also have a website, which is linked there, www.poppyroomer.de – it couldn't be named anything else, right? Whether it's a shooting location or interior consultation, we're totally open. The main thing is that it's fun, creative, and exciting. That's crucial.

Sabrina's Love for Circle Maze and the Intriguing Mix of Old and New

Sabrina raves about the Circle Maze rug, fascinating with organic shapes and oriental-modern design. This rug has not only beautified the entrance area but also proves to be versatile. Sabrina's passion extends to old Persian rugs, which surprisingly harmonize well with modern spaces. The union of history and modernity creates an exciting sense of interior design that both Sabrina and Vida are enthusiastic about.
V: Today, we were allowed to lay out a few rugs at your place, which fit in perfectly here.

S: It's amazing – so beautiful.

V: And one of them actually belongs to you, the Circle Maze, which has these organic shapes. Why did you choose this rug?

S: It was love at first sight. I didn't have to think long when I scrolled through your online store. So it was a matter of minutes. I simply fell in love with the organic shapes. It's so oriental modern. It's something very clean and reduced, offering a lot of possibilities. Now it lies here in our entrance area, but I can also imagine it on the wall. It goes well with geometric things, which are a bit my forte. The high pile in these circles immediately attracted me haptically.

V: It really checks many boxes. You have a profile, a beautiful design, the color is subdued and can integrate subtly anywhere, but still, the rug somehow makes a statement. It looks excellent here, and I also think all the other rugs look pretty cool here.

S: I must say, I agree. I didn't expect that. What particularly impresses me about all your great rugs are the old Persian rugs. At first glance, I didn't think they would match here, but both in the office and in the kitchen where they are lying now – amazing. As if they had been there for years.

V: They always provide a surprise – that's true. Because you don't dare to approach them so much, given the association with old times or at grandmother's under the dining table. And if you bring that into such modern spaces, this contrast creates an incredibly exciting sense of interior design that suddenly opens up. I also think they look super cool. Thank you very much for having us here. We had a great time. I am incredibly inspired and take many ideas home with me. As I said, you are warmly invited.

S: Thank you, I gladly accept the invitation.

In Sabrina's inviting home, not only does interior design merge with personality, but also a story is told – a story of passion, creative fusion, and the charm of contrasts. This inspiring insight into Sabrina's world not only invites you to experience her home but also to be carried away by her love for aesthetics. A homestory that extends far beyond Instagram and reminds us that true beauty lies in the uniqueness of each space.
