The Sumak Shahsavan is a variant of the flat woven Sumak, which is produced in shot wrap technology. Shahsavan means "those who love the king". The name refers to the nomadic trunk, which under Shah Abbas guarded the northern border of Iran to the big one. The Shahsavana tribe is a confederation of several Turkish -speaking tribes of different ethnic origin that live in the northwestern part of Iran.
