Product information "Kelim Gashgai"
The Gashghai or Qashqai are Turkish -speaking nomad strains, which mainly live in the province of Fars, especially around the city of Shiraz in the southwest of Iran. In addition to rugs, they also produce a wide variety of flat -woven Kelim, which are produced in the typical slot weaving technique. This means that slots in the Kelim are part of the manufacturing process, especially when changing color. The technology implies the structure of the motifs, which are mainly geometrically - typical Kelim patterns. The nomads do not adhere to a given design or a template. They build according to their memory and their personal taste. The result is a wide variety of patterns and colors, which is only based on the individual taste and tradition of the knoters. One advantage of the slit-Kelim technique is that you can use these flat tissue from both sides.
