The city of Hamadan in the West of Iran and its surrounding villages are known for being very productive areas for rug knotting. At this, each village makes unique rugs which are characterized by their intense colours, and playful motifs, which are inspired by the weavers daily life. Each village, of course, has its own motifs and colour schemes. A large variety of floral or geometric patterns on red, blue or beige backgrounds, which are individual for each village, characterize these inspiring rugs. Tarom is one of these villages.
