In our Hamburg warehouse, each piece is inspected by hand, biologically washed, and restored if necessary before sale. A rug that lasts for decades is the most sustainable rug of all.

Hand-woven Kelim have small irregularities in the weave, slight colour variations, and no backing – the pattern is visible on both sides. These natural characteristics confirm their authenticity and hand-woven origin.
Gashgai Kelim are woven by the Gashgai tribes in Iran. They are known for bold geometric patterns, robust wool fibres, and long-lasting natural colours. They are among the most sought-after Persian flatweave rugs.
Yes. Persian Kelim are extremely durable thanks to their dense flatweave – ideal for living rooms, hallways, kitchens, and high-traffic areas.
Most Kelim are made from 100% wool or a wool-cotton blend. Virgin wool, particularly due to the lanolin – the natural fat surrounding the wool fibre – makes the rug robust, naturally dirt-repellent, and easy to care for.
Kelim dyed with natural colours age beautifully. Minimal fading can occur with prolonged direct sunlight – occasional turning protects the colours.
Regular vacuuming is sufficient for everyday use. For stains, cold water and mild soap help. For deep cleaning, a professional cleaner experienced with handmade and Persian rugs should be consulted.
Yes. Flatweaves made of wool, such as Persian Kelim and Gashgai Kelim, are fully compatible with underfloor heating – best used with a high-quality rug underlay.
Each hand-woven Kelim is crafted on a traditional loom. Small differences in size, alignment, or pattern are normal and are part of their charm and authenticity.
Yes. The flatweave makes Kelim easier to clean and more resistant to pet hair and dirt than rugs with a high pile.
The price depends on craftsmanship, origin (e.g. Gashgai tribe), age and the complexity of the pattern and weave. Older Kelim or Kelim originating from nomadic tribes who still produce few or none at all, often have a higher value.
