Product information "Kelim Afshar"
Each flatwoven Kelim is a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece, crafted with care and tradition. For generations, artisans have woven these unique rugs by hand, ensuring that no two pieces are ever exactly alike. Among them are classic Kelim, recognizable by their characteristic “Kelim slit,” and Sumak rugs, which feature an embroidered-like texture on the front and loose threads on the back. Originally, these handcrafted textiles served multiple purposes—adorning doorways, covering camels and horses, acting as tent roofs, draping dining tables, or being used as sleeping mats. Carefully preserved or lovingly restored, each Kelim carries the rich heritage of its craftsmanship into the present day.
